This #WorldKindnessDay, we wanted to share the sto This #WorldKindnessDay, we wanted to share the story of our Head Nurse Megan at The Vet Waltham Forest, who has recently returned from a 2-week volunteering trip to help the cats on the Greek island of Paxos! The trip was facilitated by local charity PAWS (Paxos Animal Welfare Society), which runs entirely on the support of volunteers. On her experience, Megan says: “As well as neutering, we would provide other health care as needed, such as removing rotten and broken teeth, ear tipping for cats suffering from cancer, and for one patient, we even placed a makeshift dressing on after finding out he had fractured his leg! “With all our hard work, we managed to neuter over 109 cats! What an achievement for only 2 weeks on the island. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to break that record next year if we can!” #thevet #charitywork #volunteeringabroad #worldkindnessday

Happy Halloween! Here are some tips to make sure t Happy Halloween! Here are some tips to make sure the night isn't too frightful for your pets... 🎃 Be careful with the placement of your pumpkin so your pet doesn't bump into it and burn themselves. 👻 Don't force them to get dressed up if they're not a fan of fancy dress! 💀 Chocolate is a tasty treat for us humans but toxic for our pets. Make sure they can't sniff it out. 🕸 Keep fake cobwebs out of reach from pets. These can also pose a threat to wildlife who may get tangled if it's strung up outdoors. 🦇 For pets likely to be spooked by Trick or Treaters, build a cosy den for them at home, use plenty of positive reinforcement and reward calm behaviour with treats. You could even pop a blanket in there sprayed with Pet Remedy. This calming spray works instantly by tricking fired-up nerve cells into thinking they are getting a message from the brain to calm. Pet Remedy is available to buy in practice! #thevet #halloween #halloweenpettips #petadvice

Today is World Mental Health Day ❤️ Here are Today is World Mental Health Day ❤️ Here are some of our team members with their pets, sharing how they help to support their mental health. L-R: 🐶 Will - Customer Experience Manager with his partner and their lovely dogs: “Nothing beats getting out in the great outdoors for a long hike with our spaniels: Podrick, Walter and Bessie.” 🐶 Lizzie - Content Marketing Manager with border collie Meg: “Taking Meg for a walk is my favourite part of the day. Being a collie, she needs lots of exercise. We get out together in all weathers and I always feel like a weight has been lifted by the time we get back home. She comes everywhere with me and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” 🐴 Joanne - Customer Experience Manager with her horse, Isla: “Either before or after a busy day at work, I have to go the stables to care for Isla. She always puts a smile on my face with her cheeky kisses for treats. She is my therapy along with my 2 dogs Jasmine & Parker who always provide a very warm tail wagging welcome when I arrive home.” 😺 Sian - Area Manager with cat Elmo: “My cats are my everything. If I’ve had a difficult day, there’s nothing that helps me unwind more than cuddling into them and hearing their purring.” #thevet #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthsupport #petsformentalhealth #wherewouldwebewithoutpets
