As we celebrate Rabbit Awareness Week, it’s impo As we celebrate Rabbit Awareness Week, it’s important to be aware of flystrike and how it can affect your pet. ​  With the weather getting warmer, flies start to appear in their masses and can deposit their young in damp areas such as rabbit hutches. These eggs can then become maggots if buried into the rabbit’s fur, known as flystrike, which can be fatal to our small furry friends. ​
To prevent flystrike, check your rabbit is clean at least once a day, remove soiled bedding daily and disinfect the hutch weekly to ensure no flies or maggots are making a home with them.​  Read our blog for more information: https://www.thevet.co.uk/pet-advice/flystrike/
